The Brief

To create a visual identity for UK country artist Phillipa Cookman to be used to promote her upcoming album across web and social and promotional merchandise. The album ‘Cookman’ is a collection of songs that had been written by Philippa’s late Father in the ‘70s.

I am so glad I chose Studio Kico to design my album artwork and social media visuals, I ended up with exactly what I wanted. From the very first planning stages through to the final delivery, they were professional, adaptable and took everything I wanted on board. The final designs were perfect and I will without a doubt be using them for future projects.

We took inspiration from vintage country album covers, Americana and ‘70s Nashville to create the styling of this visual identity. Combining decorative retro styled fonts with earthy tones and vintage textures to create a modern homage to the ‘70s - the era in which the songs had been written.

This retro styling was continued across the photography, which we achieved by layering vintage photograph elements and effects and carefully adjusting the tones of the images.

The intricate retro font was used to create the core logo and for the reverse of the album cover which we designed to mimic a vintage flyer or festival poster with a sea background as a nod to Phillipa and her Fathers hometown, Whitstable.
